In the fast-growing world of lithium-ion battery manufacturing, finding the right parts supplier can make or break your production timeline. When a promising US-based battery pack manufacturer in California needed a reliable partner for precision parts, enclosures, and structural frames, they made a decision that surprised many: they moved their sourcing from China to South Korea.

The partner they chose was Belinker. And what started as a trial order has since turned into a continuous, ongoing supply relationship — with repeat orders that grow in both volume and variety.

The Problem: Why China Wasn't Working

Like many US manufacturers, our client had been sourcing machined parts from Chinese suppliers. On paper, the pricing looked attractive. In practice, the reality was different.

  • Tariff exposure — Increasing US tariffs on Chinese imports were eroding the cost advantage

  • Supply chain risk — Geopolitical uncertainty made long-term planning difficult

  • Quality inconsistency — Parts from different batches showed unacceptable variation

  • Slow communication — Engineering changes took days to confirm, causing production delays

  • Inflexible MOQs — Chinese factories optimized for mass production struggled with high-mix, low-volume orders

The client needed a supplier who could handle diverse part types in small quantities, respond quickly to engineering changes, and deliver with consistent quality — all without the tariff and logistics headaches of China-based sourcing.

The Solution: Korea-Based Sourcing Through Belinker

"We had previously sourced machined parts from China. To reduce tariff exposure and supply-chain risk, we selected a Korean manufacturer as an alternative. The transition allowed us to maintain quality while improving delivery reliability."
— US Battery Manufacturer Client

Belinker was able to onboard the client quickly because of our fabless manufacturing model. Rather than relying on a single factory, we orchestrate a network of 200+ specialized partner factories across South Korea. This means we can assign each part — whether it's a CNC-machined battery tray, a welded steel frame, or a powder-coated enclosure — to the factory best suited for that specific job.

Battery Pack Enclosures: Precision at Scale

One of the most demanding products we manufacture for our US client is the battery pack enclosure tray — a large-format, CNC-machined aluminum component that requires extreme dimensional accuracy across its entire surface. These trays serve as the structural foundation of battery packs, housing cells, cooling systems, and electrical connections in a single precision-engineered enclosure.

Every surface on this tray is CNC milled to tight tolerances. The machining marks you see are the signature of multi-pass milling — each pass removing material with sub-millimeter precision. Integrated lifting eyes are welded and machined in-place, and drilled mounting holes are positioned to exact specifications for downstream assembly.

These are not simple flat plates. They are multi-feature, multi-process components that require laser cutting, forming, welding, CNC machining, and surface treatment — all coordinated through Belinker's manufacturing network.

High-Mix, Low-Volume: The Capability That Won Trust

Battery pack manufacturing is not mass production. Each product line may require dozens of unique machined parts, custom enclosures, and specialized frames — often in quantities as small as 10 to 50 pieces per SKU. Most traditional manufacturers don't want this kind of work. It's complex to manage, hard to quote, and unpredictable in scheduling.

This is exactly where Belinker excels.

From raw aluminum battery trays to black powder-coated enclosures with integrated mounting points, cable ports, and lifting brackets — we manufacture every variant the client needs. Because our network includes 200+ factories with different specializations, we can process completely different part types simultaneously and deliver them as a single consolidated shipment.

This high-mix, low-volume capability is what turned a trial order into a long-term partnership.

Korea vs. China: Why the Switch Stuck

The client's transition from China to Korea wasn't just about avoiding tariffs. Over multiple orders, they found that Korean manufacturing through Belinker outperformed their previous Chinese suppliers across every metric that mattered.

The result: what started as a single trial order has become a continuous supply relationship with growing order volume. Each shipment builds more confidence, and each successful delivery leads to new part numbers being added to the scope.

Continuous Export — Built on Customer Satisfaction

The photo above marks a milestone moment: Belinker's first successful export of precision machined parts to the United States. Since then, we have continued to ship — order after order, quarter after quarter. What was once a single trial shipment has evolved into a continuous, recurring export operation.

The most meaningful proof of quality isn't a certificate — it's a repeat purchase order. Our US battery client has placed multiple orders since the initial engagement, each time adding new part numbers and increasing the scope of supply. This pattern — try a small batch, verify quality, expand the scope — is the foundation of every successful Belinker client relationship.

We maintain this trust through:

  • 24-hour response time — Every RFQ and engineering question gets a response within one business day

  • Dimensional inspection reports — Shipped with every order, verified at our in-house QC center

  • Material traceability — Full documentation for every part, meeting US industrial standards

  • Flexible scheduling — Our 200+ factory network allows us to meet tight deadlines even for diverse, multi-SKU orders

  • Proactive communication — We flag potential issues before they become problems

Backed by Investors Who See the Potential

Belinker's ability to serve global clients is backed by serious institutional support. We are funded by Strong Ventures (a US-based venture capital firm in Los Angeles), Korea Investment Accelerator, and VNTG (a subsidiary of Korean conglomerate SeAH Group). We have also been selected for the Korean government's Global TIPS program, supporting our North American expansion including the establishment of a US subsidiary.

In Korea, we have built a proven track record with major enterprise clients including SeAH Besteel (revenue $2.5B+), SeAH Changwon Special Steel (revenue $1.5B+), and Hankook Tire & Technology. Our CEO, Jae-min Ahn, was named to the Forbes Korea 30 Under 30 (2025) in the Deep/Enterprise Tech category.
